New Machinery Directive: Information on new regulations to ensure the health and safety of workers

Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 on machinery was adopted by the European Union on 29 June 2023, replacing Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The regulation came into force on 19 July 2023.
The regulation lays down new provisions for incorporating new technologies, in particular machines with self-evolving behaviour (Artificial Intelligence), cyber security and even autonomous machines.
When will this regulation apply? What changes have been made to the essential health and safety requirements? Will the applicable certification procedures remain the same? Will this regulation have an impact on an operator making modifications?
